Over the past couple of months, I committed to assessing a variety of testing tools, looking at a new tool every two weeks. This might seem like a lot, but I think far from being eccentric, it's going to become the norm in our constantly-changing tech world.

The organization took home the award for 'Best Agile Project' for their outstanding work in revitalizing and re-engineering the Rangle.io website. The website now promotes the organization's new global presence and growing reputation as a leading strategic digital innovation partner. Working in a truly Agile framework, the team was able to deliver impressive key results in a short period of time. Some of these results consisted of decreased reliance on developers for page builds and website changes, enablement of data-driven decisions via Google Tag Manager, improved GDPR compliance and actionable insights from user testing.

When it comes to unit testing, business logic is considered the most valuable area of your code to test because if there is an error, heads will roll 😵. This was apparent on a React Native project I recently worked on that had plenty of unit tests for the Redux part of the app - reducers, sagas, and selectors, but the overall code coverage was not great 🤔. There was a lot of presentation logic and components that were not covered. So when I joined, the goal was to bring the overall coverage up by unit testing 👨🏼💻the remaining code.

It's been a few months since we finished our beta Bridge for Product Designers course, so it's a perfect time to reflect on the experience. If you haven't heard of us before, at Bridge we build and run part-time courses that are free for students with the goal of fostering a more inclusive, diverse, and accessible tech industry. Our courses are made by volunteers and hosted at tech companies in Toronto. They're designed to remove barriers for junior to intermediate professionals who are women, non-binary, or agender. We're able to efficiently build courses that are tailor-made for these groups by applying design thinking and lean development methodologies. We utilized processes like project discovery, user research, user journey mapping, usability testing, and iterative improvement. This is the story of how we used those methodologies to make a really amazing product.

At Rangle, we realize that while we try to maintain the team-first approach to quality as defined in the Scrum Guide, there are just some things that our Business Quality Analysts (BQAs) are better at. The role of the BQA on a development team at Rangle is not as a tester as in other organizations, as my colleague Eric has already alluded to in his article BQAs: Why We Combined the Business and Quality Analyst Roles. We help to ensure that the Scrum Team develops cross-functional skills in testing and in story writing; we're essentially Quality Coaches who work to assist our team members to adopt a testing mindset while thinking of quality from the product's inception.
